2008

The Opening of All Happy Now and New Paintings in the Studio.

In the Spring of 2008, after beginning planning and fundraising in 2001 and breaking ground in 2004, All Happy Now, the 100' diameter ziggurat of formed earth, grass and redwood bender board located in the Humboldt Botanical Gardens, finally had its Opening Celebration.
Below is a gallery of photos taken at that opening on May 31th, 2008 by Luciano Santino:

Paintings - Studio work from 2008:

Continuing the oil on canvas and panel projects begun around 2000.
Attempting to use the same image making techniques started in 1994 with tinted sand on the floor, I stopped using brushes which seems to be the key. Using tiny palette knives mimics the feel of the mason's trowels which I enjoy using while laying out sand. Also as a bonus, I don't have to clean tiny brushes since I hate having to do that all the time with my painting work for money

The first set of three are new landscapes - near the mouth of the Klamath River. The second four are portraits of Them, a series of upside down portraits of some of the more notorious members of the Bush Administration. Then there's some guns, a group of the new portraits, and finally three versions of the Eureka Theatre and a view of Mount Shasta.
